FAQ for birth, postpartum, and photography

How can we book?

Let’s grab coffee or tea to get to know each other. It’s so important to connect with your doula. Your doula often times becomes a safe place during an intimate time so you will want to make sure you have found the best fit for you.

Where are you located?

I am located in the greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. But, I am always up for an adventure! I have had clients in North Carolina, Georgia, and Illinois.

Why should I hire a doula?

I want to help create a safe, memorable, and empowering birth space for you. I want to support you in your desires for your birth. I want to help you create a calm atmosphere for when you meet your babe for the first time. I want to encourage you throughout labor with tools that can calm your fears. I will be your constant in the ever changing birth space. I can provide educational, physical, and emotional support so you can have the best experience for your body, your birth, and your baby. Studies have shown that doulas can help cut back on labor time, reduce anxiety, lower the rate of medical interventions, and improve mother-baby bonding.

Can you only have a doula if you have a natural birth?

No, your birth choices are your choices. I will honor you and support you in those choices. Each birth is unique and requires tailored assistance. I am here to facilitate your dream birth however you desire.

What does your doula package include?

My doula package includes one prenatal session to get to know your unique preferences for your labor and postpartum period. This will help me get a sense of what kind of birth you hope to have so I can help facilitate your desires. I will be on-call for you from 38-42 weeks of pregnancy. Once you are in active labor I will meet you at your home, birthing center, or hospital and provide continual support until baby is born. I provide aromatherapy using essential oils that will be beneficial throughout the final stages of pregnancy and labor. I will stay up to two hours after birth. And then one postpartum visit which will be within two weeks of bringing home baby. I will come to your home and we will process your birth, transition, and experience so far. I will assist you with any further support needed. Additional postpartum hours can be added at anytime in blocks of four hours.

What can we expect if we hire you for birth photography?

The day you give birth is the most transformative experience and with the heightened emotions sometimes moments will begin to run together. Every birth story is so unique and I capture your moments how they happen in the purest primal state of birthing using documentary style photography. I am here to help you preserve moments that you will never experience again in that exact way. My birth photography package includes a consultation to get to know you a little better, being on-call from 38-42 weeks, labor and delivery coverage, up to two hours postpartum coverage, and an online gallery of the final images.

What can we except from a postpartum photo session?

Uncensored raw moments of your first day home with baby. The Postpartum Photo Session is within 24 hours of birth, or the first 24 hours of returning home from your place of birth. It includes two hours of shooting, in-home or on location. Come as you are. You may be naked, unwashed, and swollen. This session was intended to capture your postpartum journey as it is. You are so beautiful, raw, and powerful. In your postpartum journey you go through a ton of emotions with in a day and sometimes an hour. I want to capture the first day in this new season as your body is still in the early stages of healing, emotions are heightened, you are still getting your nursing schedule down, and the relief of being home if you weren’t already.

Can we book you as our doula + birth photographer?

Unfortunately, not at this time. While I love doula work and birth photography equally they are very much two separate jobs. I want to make sure you have the best support as your doula as well as I want to make sure I capture your raw moments as they happen. I can not do either role well while juggling the two. I can be either your birth doula or birth photographer, however I do offer a postpartum photo session that can be added onto my birth doula package.
